Send As SMS

Proud :)

The company I will start working for is no. 49 on the list of the 50 biggest German privatly owned companies :)

SmsZIP instead of WinZIP

I know in some countries text messaging is not so common, in Germany it is. I guess some people sent over a hundred a day. Especially youngsters. Here is a tool someone in Denmark developed:
smszipper.kom.aau.dk. You can zip your SMS! So instead of sending 2-3 it will only send 1 and save you money.

Didnt try it yet, in case you do...let me know :)

Match made in heaven!

I read this student journal the other day and found this really interesting website, which is called Airtroductions.

Whether you’re looking for a date in Los Angeles, a business networking partner in Tokyo, or just someone to share a cab from Kennedy to Midtown, look no further. Airtroductions is offering a way to decide who you sit next too in a plane. Check it out!
- And if you try it: Let me know :)

Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me...

No, this wasnt my cake, but I found it on the internet.
Check out more funky cakes here!

------------------

Some thoughts regarding my birthday....

Good thing, I am not 30 yet. HAHA...

Honestly was a funny day, cause at 11.58 PM (night before) my boyfriend called and I was wondering why. He said: "I wanted to congratulate you."
And I was: "Because of what?"
He said: "DUH! Its your birthday!!!"

There were some nice surprises. Some people I didnt expect to hear from sent me emails and ecards. Some other people I was counting on, forgot. But then, birthdays dont mean as much to me anymore as they used too. And I am sure I forgot tons of them too. Sorry about that (if one of them was yours!).

Didnt get any present from my family. Which is ok, cause I didnt give anything to my family this year either. Things are just too crazy. Was surprised though that I didnt even got a card from my dad. Well, he will have to help a lot with my new apt, so I think thats worth 1000 times more than a bday card. Poor him had to drive to GT with me (which is 300 km from here!). Yet I think I will make bday presents again, cause after all its nice to get something ;) Oh, I forgot...my mom gave me something. A bag that was kinda expensive, but also is kinda ugly lol - I will have to exchange it. I asked my friends to buy me a voucher from IKEA, so I can buy a kitchen :)

On saturday I will have my bday party. Should be around 30 people, coolest thing some of my friends from a few hundred kilometers away will come too. Problem is: We dont have enough beds, so a few of them will put up a tent in the garden lol - There will be ONE Candian and I am still wondering if we can contribute to Canada day in a way...but I cant think of something, if anyone has an idea let me know :)

Cheers,
J.

My new home!

Yay, I found my apartment. I went to see it last week, but its in an old house and I wasnt sure if it was so smart to move in. So I asked my Dad to double check it and we went to GT today. He said its allright. Its not perfect, but for a "first apt" and for a certain period of time it will do just fine.
As we all know a single picture easily replaces a thousand words...so here is a glimpse through the keyhole...

essecke
This is where the dinner table will be (this is part of the living room). Thinking about giving it an Asian touch.

Küche
My future kitchen to be. *sigh* Do you have any idea how expensive a stove and a fridge are?!?!

And last but not least, let me introduce my neighbours:
Hühner
To the right: A chicken farm!

Ziegen
To the left: A goat couple! (red circle)

I have to admit its kinda different from Seoul or London, but hey...its a new experience! And as I am 29 now, it might be time for a "calmer surrounding" lol

Cheers!
KIMCHI :)

Hamish Fulton - The walking artist

Hamish Fulton's website

He is taking "walks" and takes pictures, but always makes sure that he doesnt leave traces = doesnst destroy anything and doesnt leave any signs of civilisation (e.g. trash).

Worldcup is over, real life kicks in

As Korea lost the worldcup is over for my family!!! My brother had tickets for the Achtelfinale (Carissa: Sorry, dont know the word either lol): Switzerland vs. Ukraine, but didnt want to go, so we sold the tickets to one of my best friends. Hopefully he will have a great time.

My plans for monday, June 26:
- Seeing the doc so he can finally check my liver and the weird results we got from several blood checks. I am a lil worried, but hopefully the specialist will finally find out what the problem is.
- Maybe preparing for my graduation-first job-birthday party on Saturday. Not sure if people got my email...weird...
- Might make a couple more calls regarding an apartment. Dad and me will drive up North on Tue, to check out the apt I want to move in. The house is kinda old, but they just fixed the whole place.
*sigh* There will be a lot of stuff that I have to take care of after I finally came to a conclusion:
  • phone & internet
  • kitchen
  • washing machine
  • furniture
  • painting
  • registration
  • telling ppl about my new address
  • ...
Waiting for updates from all of you!!! :)

Housing and Working and Losing

1. Went to GT (my new town), checked out 14 apts in 2 days, man was I dead! Found some really nice ones. Still not sure though.

2. Signed my work contract! *woot, woot*

3. Korea lost :( My bro and mom were devastated. I was ok, because I love Korea, but really soccer is NOT MY THING. I just think it sux that Korea lost, because the Korean fans were def. the COOLEST. I watched the last games of Korea on TV, and I could ONLY hear Korean fans and never the opponent.

Carissa: I still think you are cool lol Even though the evil Swiss Team kicked out my beloved Korea. And you know what, I really dont want Germany to win, cause they kicked out Korea in 2002, since then I have been pouting lol
Celine: red, black and yellow????

Luv to y'all out there :) - Well not to the Germans and the Swiss :P

Only thing that sux. The stomach pain came back, so I had to go to the hospital again. They still dont know what it is, but I am a lil scared. The pain lasted for over 12 hours and its so scary that they dont know at all what it is. Hopefully they will find out soon. I have enough stuff to worry about, dont really need this at the moment ;)

Busy, perfect day & Korea vs. Togo 2:1 !!!

It was really funny, my wake up call this morning was my lil bro running in my room screaming: DAE-HAN-MIN-GUK (which is the official title of Korea in Korean). He was all hyped up, jumping and screaming and I dont know how it happend, but he totally got me into SOCCER MOOD (even though I usually HATE soccer).

1. STOP of the day: Dentist. Took longer than I expected, then I had to rush to the stadium, but nevertheless I took the time to put on the RIGHT cloths and the TATTOOS in my face. It was funny how people were staring at me. But oh well...you've gotta do it for tha team, yo!

2. STOP of the day: My first (and probably last) LIVE world cup soccer game at the Stadium in Frankfurt. Went there with my bro...

KOREA REPUBLIC 2-1 TOGO

13 June 2006
by FIFAworldcup.com

Ahn Jung-Hwan turned back the clock four years with a spectacular winning goal as Korea Republic came from behind for a 2-1 victory over ten-man Togo in their opening Group G match in Frankfurt on Tuesday, 13 June 2006.

Surprise semi-finalists in 2002, the South Koreans looked like they might suffer a taste of their own medicine when Togo, on their FIFA World Cup debut, took a 31st-minute lead through Mohamed Kader.

But after Jean-Paul Abalo's 53rd-minute dismissal, Lee Chun-Soo swept home the ensuing free-kick 60 seconds later before Ahn revived memories of his extra-time winner against Italy in 2002 with Korea Republic's second goal 18 minutes from time.

3. STOP of the day: Vali's birthday dinner (yes, her bday was back in April, but oh, we are all so busy ;) hehe... Yummy Thai food! A nice chat with the gals & excellent ice cream. The end of a perfect day.

Shrimp & Chicken WanTan

Alc-free Cocktail: Banana Freeze...omg, it was sooo good! I will never understand why people need to put alcohol in cocktails ;)

Trading London

Hi everyone,

this is Guetersloh:

Why am I posting this pic instead of one from Picadilly Circus? Its because something happend. Something important.

I got a REAL job. I still cant believe it. It will be my first REAL assignment ever. Its with a rather well known company (=Miele, 15.000 employees world wide), well paid, it will include three stays abroad and it means working within in an int network on a daily basis. The only thing that sux is the location. It will be in Guetersloh (s. above), which is a town in the middle of no where. 95.712 inhabitants. Area: 111,98 km². And as you can see on the photo, not very cosmopolitan. Not even any of my friends are in the neighbourhood :( But it will mean:
1. My first own apartment.
2. Paying my own bills.
3. Being able to travel, cause I will have the money.
4. Starting a real grown-up life.

About London...I feel really torn. It was my dream. And now within a couple of weeks everything is turned upside down. But Kraft couldnt offer me any perspective....so thats why this happend.

I am so overwhelmed at this moment, that I dont know what to say....I am sad and blue that I wont go to London, but I am exited about the other possibilities. As my assignment with Miele will only start on September 1st, I might be able to do dome traveling, which I would love to do.

Will keep you posted,
Kimchi :)

What is it they say...

Three times a brides maid, never a bride...lucky me: We dont have that concept :) So it doesnt matter that I am attending the 5th or 6th wedding within the last few years.

I cant believe K&H are getting married tomorrow. And I am not talking about Kumar & Harold lol It actually is a very special wedding, because....

1. Its Korean-Japanese. If you know a lil about the history of those two countries it does mean a lot.
2. Its party my fault *g* I dragged H along to join AIESEC, and so he did, and then he took special care of our Japanese trainee (=K). Love worked its magic! So its an AIESEC wedding, which is especially cooool :)

So I will be out and about all day tomorrow...*sigh*

Sunday: Helping C. with a money-wedding-cake, driving up to D-Dorf to meet up with R (and hopefully M-H).
Monday: Another interview.
Tuesday: Crazyness!!!!
- Dentist
- Soccer game: Korea vs. Togo.
- Dinner with the girls

AND THEN FINALLY....WED: Seeing my bf after 3 weeks! I cant believe it. Its so ridiculous we are both in Germany and dont manage to see each other. Lets hope UK wont make things worse...

uhoh...thats the news. I will start another AIESEC traineeship on July 1st! And it will be in f* awesome LONDON!!!! Am I a Cosmopolitan or what? *grin* - ok gimme 5 secs to show off, pls ;) NO, honestly. I am just relieved that my life has a direction again and that I am finally able to take the next step in my career. Its about time. 6 months. Shit, long time. I started to get really, really frustrated.

Sooooo...wish me luck for the next few weeks, as they will be an important time when it comes to my future :)

Love to all of you,
Kimchi :)

WorldCup in Germany!

Its so funny, my two countries hosting WorldCup after each other !

Welcome the world to Germany!

[no, I am NOT exited regarding the world cup, but I hope Korea will do well]

Update for Celine!

Heya, wow, it has been a month since I blogged. Evil me, sorry, C. you are right, I should update even though life is horribly busy (and actually I really think thats good news ;)

My whole life seems to be a construction area though:
1. Family - things get really serious
2. Job - I had several interviews and am now waiting for the results. Have a pretty good feeling regarding two of the jobs.
3. Boyfriend - I totally like him, but things get more complicated. Thats also related to the job situation = some of the jobs require time abroad.

This weekend: Went to a wedding in Switzerland with R., my best friend. It was sooo much fun and I really enjoyed it, but when I came back another friend had sent me pictures of our 10-year-high-school-reunion (THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!!) and OMG I was so sad that I missed it. It was so awesome seeing the people on the pics. *sigh* I wish I could have gone to both events. But thats how life is: At one point you have to set your priorities. *double sigh* HOW I HATE THAT POINT ;)

Ok, its 1 AM, and I am dead tired from another crazy roadtrip. Good night!
